Thomas J. Eastmond is of counsel in the Business Services group of Best Best & Krieger, based in the firm’s Irvine office.

Mr. Eastmond’s practice focuses on representation of public and private clients in a wide variety of litigation matters. He has represented public and private institutional property owners in real estate and construction litigation, involving a range of issues including contract, payment and finance disputes, delay and inefficiency claims, and claims of defective construction. Representative projects include roadway, reservoir, airport, and other infrastructure projects, shopping centers, and industrial and logistics facilities. He has particular expertise with the state and federal False Claims Acts, the Miller Act, and lien, stop notice, and bond remedies in private and public construction projects. He has also represented private clients in litigation and contractual arbitration in a broad variety of general business and commercial disputes, including contract claims, trade secrets, and secured transactions.

Mr. Eastmond has significant experience in trial, appellate, and writ practice, and has handled multiple appeals and petitions for writs of review to the California Court of Appeal and California Supreme Court. He also has experience with labor and employment litigation matters, as well as adversary litigation in bankruptcy court.

Mr. Eastmond previously served as a Member-at Large of the Newport Beach Environmental Quality Affairs Committee, tasked with reviewing and commenting upon Environmental Impact Reports submitted to City agencies.

Mr. Eastmond received his J.D. from the University of Southern California in 2000. In 1997, he obtained a B.A. in History from Brigham Young University. He is admitted to practice in all the courts of the state of California, the Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and in all the federal district courts in California.
